Work on the Ontario Line continues to move forward in Toronto’s east end. Crews are now building a tunnel entrance near Gerrard Street and Carlaw Avenue, which will serve as the starting point for tunnelling under Pape Avenue. The launch shaft will support both the tunnelling process and become a future tunnel portal where Ontario Line trains will transition from surface tracks to underground tunnels. This marks another milestone in connecting Toronto with faster, more reliable transit. Les équipes construisent actuellement une entrée de tunnel près de Gerrard Street et Carlaw Avenue qui servira de point de départ pour le creusement du tunnel sous l’avenue Pape. Ce puits de lancement jouera un double rôle : il permettra d’amorcer le creusement du tunnel et deviendra à terme le futur portail où les trains passeront des voies de surface aux tunnels souterrains. Cela marque une nouvelle étape clé dans la création d’un réseau de transport collectif plus rapide et plus fiable à Toronto.
