Cold weather and snowy conditions can affect how much physical activity is possible each day. At Extendicare Tri-Town in Haileybury, ON, the Recreation Team is making sure residents stay active and have fun despite the drop in temperature! Laughter and energy filled the dining hall as a group of residents enjoyed an afternoon of “air hockey.” Through creative programming, Extendicare team members and residents won’t be letting winter slow them down.

As Giving Tuesday – an international celebration of generosity – approaches on December 2nd, Extendicare is proud to support the Alzheimer Society of Canada by doubling donations they receive. Until December 4, Extendicare will match donations to make an even greater difference for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The Alzheimer Society of Canada estimates that there are currently 700,000 people living with dementia in Canada – a number that will continue to grow as our population ages. At Extendicare, we embrace every person for the individual they are, and our team of health care professionals sees the impact of dementia up close, every day. That's why, for more than a decade, we have been proud partners with the Alzheimer Society of Canada. This Giving Tuesday, double the impact of your donation to support the ASC's vital work to improve quality of life and programs for people and families in your community. Extendicare is honoured to support the Alzheimer Society of Canada for #GivingTuesday. This is a cause that is close to our hearts. Dementia deeply affects the communities we serve and is one of the leading reasons people enter long-term care. Through December 4, we will match donations to the ASC to help people living with dementia and their families. Join us and double the impact. #WindowsOfHope
By 2050, over 1 million people in Canada will provide care to someone living with dementia — a powerful reminder of the compassion and strength that unite us. Behind every person living with dementia is someone who cares — often quietly, always with love. Your donation supports people living with dementia and their caregivers with the education, resources and community they need. 🪟 Give today and have your donation MATCHED by our friends at Extendicare! ➡️ https://bit.ly/4pCaiFX #WindowsofHope #AlzheimerSociety #Caregivers #DementiaSupport #HopeLivesHere #GiveHope #HolidayGiving

With winter right around the corner, we are looking back at a celebration of community in the London, ON, area. Four Extendicare homes – Elmwood Place, McGarrell Place, London and Port Stanley, came together to host the first annual “Four Home Summer Games.” Residents and team members from the four homes gathered in London’s Springbank Park to enjoy a day of good food, new friends and healthy competition. “The recreation teams really did the heavy lifting,” said Regional Manager, Paul Rooyakkers. “They booked the venue, organized the activities and made sure every resident could take part. We said, ‘think big,’ and they did. The collaboration between the homes was incredible.” This event is a fantastic reminder that at Extendicare, we collaborate because we achieve more together, and we are already looking forward to seeing what next summer’s competition brings!
