As I said, I don't think people really understand what is happening across Africa. Slowly, and then all at once. I've had so many zoom conversations and emails back and forth. There is nothing like being boots on the ground, seeing the momentum for yourself and having that moment of clarity. I've heard from multiple people at massive companies, "I had no idea this was going on here." If you're curious and want to dip your toes in the water (or if you prefer summitting the mountain), join us in Cape Town for W3Node. The builders are building, companies are open for business and regulators are doing their part. Congrats to the Africa Stablecoin Summit Kotani Pay teams 🥳

  • Weekend reads: How we approach oracle design at Steakhouse Financial, including the release of MetaOracle, an open-source oracle adapter under the MIT license, built to help mitigate these trade-offs https://lnkd.in/dB_Wd724 In decentralized finance, participants transact directly on public blockchains like Ethereum, eliminating counterparty risk at settlement. But other risks remain. At the heart of every DeFi transaction lies one question: what’s the right price? In lending markets like Morpho, borrowers and lenders pull in opposite directions: Borrowers want cheap liquidity and minimal liquidation risk. Lenders want high yields and full protection from loss. Oracles sit between these incentives. They decide when a loan becomes unsafe, when liquidations occur, and when bad debt appears. We explore these trade-offs and our approach at Steakhouse Financial through MetaOracle, an open-source oracle adapter. MetaOracle balances stability and responsiveness, switching between data sources to ignore short-term noise while reacting quickly to genuine market shifts.
