About us
Ethereum is a platform and a programming language that makes it possible for any developer to build and publish next-generation decentralized applications. Ethereum can be used to codify, decentralize, secure and trade just about anything: voting, domain names, financial exchanges, crowdfunding, company governance, contracts and agreements of most kind, intellectual property, and even smart property thanks to hardware integration. Ethereum borrows the concept of decentralized consensus that makes bitcoin so resilient, yet makes it trivial to build on its foundation. To find out more about how Ethereum works, consult the whitepaper. This page is managed and operated by members of the Ethereum Foundation.

From scaling to identity to real-world assets, the Ethereum ecosystem keeps advancing forward. Here are 28 things the ecosystem accomplished over the last month. 1/ Bhutan becomes the first nation to anchor its national digital ID system on Ethereum, showing how governments can use open infrastructure to keep public identity systems secure, sovereign, and verifiable. 2/ Jovay Network by Ant Group (creator of AliPay) are building the next era of Layer 2, connecting one of the world’s largest payment networks with open, global infrastructure. 3/ Stablecoin transfers on Ethereum hit $5T last quarter. 4/ ERC-8004 went live, enabling AI agents to discover and trust each other without intermediaries. 5/ ADI Chain joined the ZKsync Elastic Network, launching the first dirham-backed stablecoin with major UAE banks. 6/ Centrifuge launched SPXA, the first tokenized S&P 500 Index Fund licensed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and deployed on Base. 7/ The Ethereum for Institutions site is now live. The new site acts as a resource for builders, leaders, and institutions. 8/ WalletConnect Pay went live with dtcpay, enabling seamless stablecoin payments across retail and hospitality in Asia. 9/ Lighter launched its mainnet after eight months in private beta, bringing low-cost, low-latency perpetual trading to Ethereum L2. 10/ Fluidkey launched its new app on iOS, Android, and web. 11/ Brevis unveiled Pico Prism, a zkVM proving 99.6% of blocks in under 12 seconds with 64 RTX 5090 GPUs. 12/ Zisk VM now proves every Ethereum block in real time, averaging 7.5-second proofs. 13/ Securitize and FG Nexus (Nasdaq: FGNX) brought the first NASDAQ-listed equity fully onchain. 14/ Ethereum is now the main capital hub of ZKsync. ZKsync introduced the Atlas upgrade which makes it faster to move funds between L1 and L2. Meaning institutional and RWA asset flows can use Ethereum L1 as a liquidity hub. 15/ Applications on Ethereum now host over $360B in deposits, up $100B this year. 16/ Layer 2 networks on Ethereum processed 1.4B transactions in Q3, a new record. 17/ Robinhood Stock Tokens went live in the EU. 18/ Arbitrum One passed 2B transactions. 19/ Coinbase rolled out decentralized exchange (DEX) trading for US users (except NY). 20/ Base launched creator coins to a group of early access users. 21/ Japanese startup, JYPC launched the world's first yen-pegged stablecoin on Ethereum. 22/ Shutter Network and Snapshot Labs brought private voting to all decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). 23/ MiniPay wallets increased by 175% year-over-year during the quarter. Users initiated aprox 290M peer-to-peer transactions worth $300M+ across 60 countries. 24/ zAMM launched a new feature: AI-powered swaps. 25/ Aegis Markets reached $1B in total volume. Built on Uniswap Labs. 26/ Abstract Foundation dropped block times from 1s → 200ms, a 5x speed boost. 27/ Giza surpassed 500K autonomous transactions. 28/ Celo Foundation reached 1B total transactions.
