We launched the Global Supply Chain Coalition at COP30: a partnership between UN Women and the German federal Government aimed at making global supply chains gender-inclusive and sustainable. The coalition builds on the #WEPs framework, which already guides over 12,000 companies worldwide. The global energy transition cannot succeed without people. The world is striving to triple renewable capacity by 2030 but labour shortages and persistent gender gaps threaten to slow progress. Susanne Friedrich, Director Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung opened the event: “Climate action and gender equality are inseparable. We cannot achieve a just and sustainable transition without the full participation and leadership of women”. 🌐Did you know that UN Women has WEPs programmes being implemented in more than 60 countries around the globe? This year, our UN Women Country Office in Georgia marked the International Day of Care by celebrating an important milestone with the private sector. Twenty-six representatives from 24 Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) signatory companies successfully completed the workshop on Care-Responsive Workplaces, delivered by UN Women. 🎓💼 Over two intensive days, participants deepened their understanding of the care economy, explored its impact on the labor market, and examined the private sector’s responsibility in shaping supportive and equitable workplaces. The training equipped companies with practical tools to: ✔️ Integrate care-responsive practices into business strategies and HR systems ✔️ Identify care-related challenges within workplaces ✔️ Develop family-friendly policies that support work–life balance ✔️ Promote parental leave, flexible work arrangements, and other inclusive mechanisms This is more than a training—it's a growing movement toward workplaces that value and support the people who make them thrive. ✨ We encourage more companies around the globe to join us in building care-responsive, inclusive, and empowering work environments. #UNWomenGeorgia #CareEconomy #WEPs #PrivateSector #GenderEquality #FutureOfWork

Day 2 was truly inspiring! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the #2025WEPsForum a powerful moment for advancing gender equality across the region’s business ecosystem. From opening reflections to TED-style talks, workshops, and co-creation sessions, the day showcased Business. Innovation. Impact. Today, we imagined the future of the Women’s Empowerment Principles, discussing women’s employability in digital and green transitions, financing for the future, inclusive procurement, and advertising to advance gender equality in marketplaces. The momentum and collaboration we’ve built together will carry far beyond the Forum. Now, let’s turn our shared commitment into tangible action for workplaces, marketplaces, and communities across Asia and the Pacific. Today marks the launch of the Global Supply Chain Coalition (GSCC): a bold partnership between UN Women and the Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung (AWE - German Agency for Business and Economic Development) inaugurated at COP30 Brazil. A supply chain connects thousands of businesses worldwide - creating employment and opportunities far beyond any single company's walls. That's why we’ve just launched the Global Supply Chain Coalition with the German Agency for Business and Economic Development. Now, supply chains can offer something more: a pathway to embed gender equality across entire industries. When one company commits to gender equality in their supplier standards, the impact cascades. From one WEPs signatory to hundreds of suppliers – transparency and procurement power accelerate transformation across networks. Now imagine what a coalition of companies can achieve together. By leveraging collective procurement power throughout the supply chain, we can ensure women have equal access to the education, jobs, and leadership roles shaping our economic future. 📢You are invited! - Official launch of the Global Supply Chain Coalition (GSCC) at COP30 Brazil 💔The green economy is sustainable, low-carbon and growing fast - but women are being left behind. As industries accelerate investments in decarbonization, circular business models, and renewable energy, women remain critically underrepresented in technical and leadership roles. This isn't just unjust - it's unsustainable. ⚙️A company's supply chain connects hundreds, even thousands, of businesses worldwide. Transforming those networks into forces for equality multiplies impact exponentially. 🙌That's why we're launching the Global Supply Chain Coalition with the Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung (German Agency for Business and Economic Development) at COP30 on Energy Day! 📢Join us to: ✅ Address structural barriers keeping women out of green sectors ✅ Challenge gender stereotypes in STEM and environmental leadership ✅ Build pathways for women in renewable energy, circular economy, and sustainable development 👭If you are at COP30 Brazil join us in person! 📺The event will be livestreamed also. --- Event Details 📍 German Pavilion, COP30 Blue Zone and online 📅 15 Saturday November, 11:00 - 12:00 PM (Brazil)/ 3:00 - 4:00 PM (Germany) 🔗 Watch it live: https://lnkd.in/dAR6VTBP 📢Guest Speakers: Susanne Friedrich, Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung Ana Carolina Querino, UN Women Eduarda Zoghbi, MPower Brasil Karolina Gutiez, Schneider Electric Special thanks to the co-organizer of this event Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. 📢COP30 in Belem launches today — a pivotal moment to remind us that climate action and gender equality must move together. 💔Climate change affects everyone, but not equally. Women and marginalised communities are often on the front lines of climate impacts, yet under-represented in decision-making and access to finance. 💪When women have equal opportunities to lead, innovate, and invest, climate solutions become stronger, more inclusive, and more effective. ⁉️For business, this isn’t just a moral imperative — it’s a strategic advantage. ➡️Diverse leadership and gender-balanced teams consistently drive higher innovation, better risk management, and more resilient results. ➡️As investors, consumers, and regulators demand credible ESG action, companies that integrate equality into their sustainability strategies are the ones that will earn trust and long-term growth. 🙏When gender equality powers climate action, everyone benefits — society, the planet, and business alike. #WEPs #COP30 #GenderEquality #Women #Leadership #ClimateAction #Climate #ESG
