    If you've been watching YouTube videos of this year's Australian Open, you might have noticed something unusual. The video below isn't Nintendo Wii Tennis - it's the Australian Open 2025's live recordings. To work around broadcasting copyright restrictions, the AO has leveraged motion capture and AI technology to create 'digital twin' matches in real-time for YouTube streaming. From the floating racquets, bald player models, and randomly appearing tennis balls, it's clear AO anticipated this would be a controversial move. In my view, there are two key considerations: 1. As the quality of animated athletes, movements, and environments improves, the line between real and virtual broadcasts will continue to blur. This could pose interesting challenges for broadcasting rights in the long term. 2. While the initiative aims to attract new followers to tennis, I wonder if the current execution serves this purpose. The beauty and athleticism of the sport is somewhat lost in this format. Overall, I still admire AO's boldness in exploring new approaches, even if the execution isn't perfect yet. What's your thought on this? #Australianopen #Tennis #AI
