Hygienic Air Handlers for the Food & Beverage Processing Industry

About us

Phoenix Air Systems manufactures Hygienic Air Handlers for Critical Process applications such as food processing facilities (meat, poultry, fruits & vegetables, juice, nuts, dairy and eggs, frozen & prepared food). Used in food processing plants, hygienic air handlers supply fresh, filtered, humidity and cooled / temperature controlled air to pressurize food processing rooms. Room pressurization can inhibit airborne contaminants from entering the processing space from other areas. Controlling humidity is crucial to help reduce free moisture and condensation. Excess moisture fosters the growth and spread of bacteria. Units have internal drains allowing cleaning and washing of interior. Operating cycles for processing applications typically include: A processing mode for supplying cool humidity controlled air to the processing space during processing hours. A "clean-up" or "wash-down" mode for supplying heated air to quickly dry rooms and exhaust the humid air to outdoors during daily washing and disinfecting of the room. Heating the room's supply air and exhausting the humidity to outdoors can speed the drying time of the room and reduce turnaround time to resume processing. Phoenix Air Systems excels at providing integrated & programmed Allen Bradley PLC controls for easy integration into existing Allen Bradley facility controls systems keeping installation and integration costs low.

At Phoenix Air Systems, we always strive to ensure our newly installed Hygienic Air Handlers operate at optimal speeds during both production and sanitation shifts. We recently had the opportunity to evaluate and make modifications to three units at a milk processing facility that just underwent a large expansion project. We understand facility conditions may change from the original design and is why we support our customers during and after installation. Special thanks to Greg Haven, our Lead Service Technician, for always supporting our customers.

  • The team is onsite this week doing training in Kansas, where we recently installed 7 units! With over 70 years of combined experience, our technical experts take pride in ongoing unit operational training. This is very beneficial to the installing contractor, maintenance technicians and onsite personnel who work on our units.

Our Phoenix Air Systems team recently partnered up with a premier Industrial Refrigeration contractor in the Midwest to install a 30,000 CFM #HygienicAirHandlingUnit for a #RTE facility in Ohio. Anytime we are designing a unit for an RTE application, we ensure it comes complete with Steril Aire UV lights, HEPA final filters and a stainless steel interior liner to ensure we meet all of the clients hygienic needs. In addition to the hygienic guidelines, we were also challenged to install the unit on a Saturday and have it in production by Monday morning. Our startup team and the contractor knocked that out of the park to ensure that the process was seamless for all parties involved!
