ANNOUCEMENT: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded contracts for the acquisition of one million barrels of crude oil to restore the Strategic Petroleum Reserve after it was recklessly drained. The effort to refill the SPR advances President Trump’s commitment to protecting our energy security and national security. Delivery is expected to begin in December and continue through January 2026, kickstarting President Trump’s promise to restore the reserve to full operational capacity. BREAKING: We’re excited to announce that contracts have been awarded for the acquisition of one million barrels of crude oil for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). After last month’s solicitation U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) received multiple competitive bids to start refilling the SPR after it was severely weakened by the previous administration’s reckless 180-million-barrel drawdown. Delivery of the one million barrels is expected in December 2025 and January 2026 and is a down payment on President Trump’s promise to restore the reserve to full operational capacity. NEW: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced yesterday a new solicitation to acquire oil for delivery to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, inviting bids for an initial purchase of 1 million barrels of oil. “After the previous administration recklessly drained the SPR for political purposes, President Trump promised to refill and manage this national security asset more responsibly,” said Secretary Chris Wright. “Thanks to the President and Congress, we are able to begin the process of refilling the SPR.
