Today we salute America's veterans and the generations of men and women who have protected our freedoms and sacrificed so much in honor of our country. We owe them a debt of gratitude, and a healthcare system that supports them in their well-being and longevity. Navvis is proud to stand with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Agile4Vets as part of the Integrated Healthcare Transformation 2.0 program, designed to increase access and improve care delivery for service members, veterans and their families.

15 years ago, our Chief Transformation Officer Anna Youngerman wanted to challenge herself with a career change to the healthcare industry. In this piece for HIT Consultant Media, she talks about what she's learned about "the path to systemic change" and where the goalposts are now for healthcare transformation. It speaks to the significant value that health systems are already realizing with #valuebasedcare and treating the system, not the symptoms. Check it out here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eN7vPuht

At Modern Healthcare's Leadership Summit in Washington D.C. last week, Navvis CEO Courtney Fortner shared insights and advice on making the commitment to #valuebasedcare. It was part of a panel session with industry leaders Wyatt Decker, M.D., MBA Decker of UnitedHealth Group and Terry Gilliland of Geisinger. The key takeaway: value-based care is not a "nice to have" but a "need to have" that can serve the industry long-term. The missing piece is aligning incentives -- which is going to take collaboration from every stakeholder group, in order to improve how care is delivered. Photo Credit: Pure Light Images

Health systems often describe their goals as improving quality, enhancing patient experience, and lowering costs. At Navvis, we see these as the essential outcomes of #valuebasedcare. In a recent Newsweek interview, Navvis President and CEO Courtney Fortner explained how value-based care is both a long-term transformation and an immediate opportunity to align physician incentives, improve hospital throughput, and build more efficient ambulatory environments to reduce avoidable ED visits and readmissions. In order to better align with patients’ needs and have an impact on reducing #healthcare costs, health systems need a more proactive primary care model when it comes to palliative and end of life care -- a model in which clinical care teams and the health system as a whole view these functions as essential and part of a holistic journey. This week, Ed Burns, MD of Navvis published an insightful article in Medscape about how health systems can improve system integration and #physiciantraining to align better with patient wants and needs for palliative and end of life care.
