Early-stage founders are overwhelmed by what to keep. Seasoned founders are starving for depth. At Friday's workshop "Fundraising Lessons from a Repeat Founder," Joshua Silver delivered for both. It wasn’t motivation. It was a roadmap. Josh, you reminded founders that it’s not luck alone, and that makes the journey feel lighter. Thank you for showing up with honesty, clarity, and generosity. You reminded this community what “pay it forward” really looks like. We’re lucky to have you.

If you’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with Mike Gomez during Advisor Hours, you already know he is no BS. He gets right to the truth, cuts through excuses, and delivers the kind of clarity that sticks with you long after the conversation ends. And now, in true Mike fashion, he’s taken that same voice founders know so well and distilled it into less than 100 pages that hit just as hard as a one-on-one with him. Today, we’re excited to celebrate Mike, one of ATV’s most engaged Villagers, a longtime advisor, and someone who continually pays it forward to this community with the release of his new book: CHOICE: What Business Owners and Startup Founders Get Wrong About Growth. “CHOICE” is exactly what founders have come to expect from Mike: blunt, practical, and grounded in proven strategy and sales discipline. It’s part mirror and part wake-up call, exposing the blind spots and self-inflicted barriers that stall growth, whether you’re running an established business or building a startup from the ground up. No gimmicks, no hacks, no fluff. Just the truths and actionable guidance he’s spent 20+ years delivering to owners across every industry. In a community full of builders, Mike has always pushed us to operate with intention, focus, and honesty. This book is one more way he’s helping founders break through the noise and grow with conviction. Congratulations, Mike! We’re proud to have you in the Village and even prouder to celebrate this milestone with you. Order "CHOICE" book here: https://lnkd.in/eKVv92-J

Raising capital isn't about having the best pitch deck. It's about building conviction. I've raised $100M+ across two VC-backed startups, including several competitive and oversubscribed rounds. On Friday, I'm going to share my proven fundraising strategy and tactics in a workshop at Atlanta Tech Village Buckhead. If you're a tech founder looking to raise your first (or next) round, you don't want to miss this 👉 https://lnkd.in/ghUJn6Si

Raising capital is one of the most challenging parts of the founder journey, and it’s not something you want to navigate through guesswork. We’re bringing in Joshua Silver, Villager and Founder + CEO of Rainforest to share a founder’s perspective on what it really takes to build investor trust and move a raise forward with intention. If fundraising is on your roadmap, whether it’s your first round or your next, this session will help you approach it with more clarity, confidence, and direction. 📅 Friday, November 21st 🕒 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM 📍 Atlanta Tech Village, Buckhead 🔗 RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/evSGQfUr

It Takes a Village applications are officially open for our next cohort, running January-March 2025. If you’re a founder who’s been grinding: making progress, gaining traction, feeling that pull that says you’re close, but you also know you’re standing at the edge of your “what’s next..." This is was built for you. Maybe you’ve outgrown doing everything alone. Maybe your momentum is real, but your next move feels unclear. Maybe you’re ready to go all in, you just need the right people in your corner. Over 12 weeks, you’ll get curated mentorship, investor access, accountability, and a community that gives you the clarity and acceleration you’ve been craving. This is the space where founders sharpen their strategy, unlock new resources, and finally feel that “I know exactly what I’m doing next” shift. Applications are open now through December 31. If you’re ready for your next level, with support that actually meets you where you are... This is your time. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/ex-uMube

A huge congratulations to our President, Aly Merritt, on receiving the Horizon Award at the 2024 Siggie Awards! 🎉 If you know Aly, you know she leads with heart, integrity, and a deep commitment to founders and community. So it came as no surprise to us (even if it was a surprise to her!) when her name lit up the screen. Aly is the definition of a connector. Someone who shows up, lifts others up, and builds the kind of ecosystem where founders thrive. We’re grateful every day for the way she champions Atlanta’s entrepreneurial community and represents the Village with such intention. Congratulations, Aly, and congratulations to all of this year’s Siggie Award winners! The future of ATL tech is bright because of leaders like you 🔥
President of Atlanta Tech Village | Community & Entrepreneurs in South Downtown ATL | Former SalesLoft
Last night I was at the Siggie Awards, in the midst of sharing a photo of another Siggies winner, when MY face suddenly appeared on the screen as the Horizon Award recipient! The plot twist? I'm ON the Selection Committee, y'all, and I had no idea. I missed one meeting this year (ONE!), and that's when these sneaky wonderful humans secretly voted me in. 😆 The absolute CHAOS of going from documenting someone else's win to stumbling up to that stage myself...! Standing on that stage at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, alongside investors whose work I've admired for years, was profoundly humbling. These are the people who've written the playbook for angel investing in the Southeast. They're the ones who took chances on founders when nobody else would. They're the reason Atlanta's startup ecosystem exists as it does today. Outside of a few small angel forays, I don't consider myself an investor in the traditional sense -- I'm a connector, a community builder, someone who just really loves seeing founders succeed and helping however I can. But maybe that's exactly what our ecosystem needs more of: People who care deeply about lifting others up, regardless of titles or traditional paths. To Sig Mosley and my fellow Selection Committee members (you know who you are, you wonderful schemers): Thank you for this surprise and for your faith in me. To the Atlanta startup community: You continue to inspire me every single day with your generosity, collaboration and relentless support of one another. This award isn't just mine; it belongs to everyone at Atlanta Tech Village, to every founder who's trusted me with their story, and to this incredible city that keeps teaching me what real community looks like. Thank you, TiE Atlanta, Sig Mosley and the entire Siggie Awards team for this recognition. I'm honored, grateful, and ready to live up to this award's promise. And congratulations to my fellow award winners, so proud to be on stage with you all. Here's to continuing to build something special together in ATL! The horizon looks pretty amazing from here.
