Important:
- Your Google Nest Hub Max’s Face Match is not a security feature. It makes your experience with your Nest Hub Max more enjoyable, convenient, and specific to you.
- Your device may not be able to tell the difference between you and a photograph of your face. If a household member looks very similar to you, the device may identify them as you.
- If you use a Pixel 8 device or higher, you might encounter issues when you set up Face Match. Please try another older Android device.
With Face Match, your Nest Hub Max recognizes your face and proactively shows you personalized content, like your upcoming calendar events. When you approach Nest Hub Max for the first time each day, you can also check things like:
- The weather
- Music suggestions
- Daily news headlines

Understand Voice Match & Face Match
Voice Match needs to be turned on to use Face Match. Voice Match allows the voice assistant to recognize you when you ask questions. Face Match further enhances your experience since it allows the voice assistant to proactively identify you. It also shows you personal and helpful content without you asking first.
For example, with Voice Match, you can ask about your upcoming calendar events. Face Match may proactively show them to you when you walk by the display.
Face Match requires Voice Match to provide the best possible experience. For example, if 2 enrolled Face Match users stand in front of the Nest Hub Max and one of them asks the voice assistant a question, Voice Match identifies which of the 2 users was speaking. The voice assistant then knows whose personalized content to display on the device.
Important: You must enable Voice Match for Face Match to work. When you turn off Voice Match for your Nest Hub Max, Face Match also permanently turns off for that device. The voice assistant no longer recognizes your voice. It does not give you personal results on that device, although you can turn on personal results again. When you turn off Voice Match for the home, Face Match also permanently turns off for your Nest Hub Max. To access or remove the audio clips or photos you took during Voice Match and Face Match setup, go to g.co/assistant/match.
