Disable Sleep Sensing
To turn off Sleep Sensing on your Nest Hub:
- Open the Google Home app

- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Deactivate Sleep Sensing
Deactivate.
Tip: Deactivating Sleep Sensing doesn't delete your sleep data in Google Fit. Learn more about disabling Sleep Sensing and deleting your Sleep data. To reactivate, you need to set up and configure Sleep Sensing again.
Alternatively, you can temporarily pause and unpause Sleep Sensing. To do this, swipe up on your display and tap Sleep SensingTurn on or off sound events tracking
With Sleep Sensing, you can turn on or off tracking of sound events like coughing and snoring in the Google Home app.
Turn on sound events tracking
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Set up sound events tracking.
- Go through the in-app notices and agree to turn sound events tracking on.
Turn off sound events tracking
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Deactivate sound events tracking
Deactivate.
Tip: When you deactivate “sound events tracking,” it stops your sound events from being added to your display. Existing information, however, may still appear on your display for several days.
Alternatively, you can switch the mic off on the back of your display to temporarily disable sound events.
Turn on or off personalized suggestions from Google Fit
If you don't want to get suggestions for better rest:
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Personalized sleep suggestions.
- Turn on or off Sleep suggestions.
Tip: When you turn off “Personalized sleep suggestions,” it stops new suggestions from being added to your display. However, existing suggestions may still appear on your display for several days.
Change bedtime schedule
You can adjust your bedtime schedule to what works for you. To change your bedtime schedule:
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Set a bedtime schedule.
- Choose a bedtime schedule.
- Tap Next.
Tip: Choose a time that you can be consistent with. Most people should get 7 to 9 hours of sleep.
Recalibrate
If you’ve moved where you sleep or Sleep Sensing isn't working as expected, you might need to recalibrate. Before you proceed, make sure you've turned on Sleep Sensing and Motion Sense.
With the Google Home app
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Recalibrate.
- Follow the instructions on your Nest Hub to calibrate.
On your Nest display
- From the bottom of your display, swipe up.
- Tap Settings
and make sure Motion Sense is on.
- Tap Sleep Sensing and make sure Sleep Sensing is on.
- Tap Calibrate device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions on your display.
Tip: You can also recalibrate with voice assistant commands. Say “Hey Google, calibrate sleep sensing” and follow any on-screen instructions.
Start or stop sharing your sleep data with Assistant
When you share your sleep data with your voice assistant, it shows your sleep and wellness information on your Nest Hub and allows you to ask sleep-related questions. Learn more about disabling Sleep Sensing and deleting your Sleep data.

- Tap Home

, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings
Sleep Sensing
Assistant access to Fit.
- Turn on or off all data types you want to start or stop sharing with voice assistant.
Tip: When you turn Assistant access to Fit off, it prevents your voice assistant from accessing your data. However, data still gets uploaded from your display to Google Fit unless you disable Sleep Sensing.
