What skills from gaming can you benefit from in your work life? For Benjamin Särkkä, Vice President, Cybersecurity Assurance at Volvo Group, thinking strategically comes naturally – after years of practicing it through gaming. “I sometimes end up approaching a problem differently because of something that happened in a game.” Favorite game? “I’ve really been enjoying Kingdom Two Crowns lately – it’s a micro strategy game that’s almost meditative. Some days I still fire up Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldur’s Gate 3.” Psst – this weekend we’ll be at DreamHack in Stockholm, meeting gamers and showcasing some of our latest solutions. Come say hi if you are there!

What if there were a way to cut emissions quickly and cost-effectively using technology we already know? Hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles (H₂-ICEVs) could be the game-changer Europe needs if the right policies are in place. A new white paper from H2Accelerate TRUCKS highlights how policy support is essential to ensure these vehicles are properly classified, incentivized, and integrated into the hydrogen infrastructure. Without this, scaling up zero-emission heavy-duty transport will be much harder and slower. H2Accelerate is a collaborative effort to fast-track hydrogen mobility across Europe. At Volvo Group, we believe that we need a mix of technologies to decarbonize heavy transport. Hydrogen is not just an alternative but a necessity for achieving Europe’s climate goals, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and ensuring energy resilience. Today, Volvo Construction Equipment announces a SEK 700 million investment in a new crawler excavator assembly plant in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The facility will strengthen production capabilities in Sweden and serve the European market with both electric and internal combustion engine models. This investment will reduce reliance on long-distance logistics, shorten delivery times, and enhance supply chain resilience while lowering carbon emissions. “This strategic investment in the future of excavator production in Eskilstuna marks a new era for us and the Swedish industry,” says Melker Jernberg, Head of Volvo CE. “It will significantly contribute to reinforcing Sweden’s position as a leader in advanced sustainable manufacturing.” Groundwork is expected to begin in the first half of 2026.

In the wake of COP30 Brazil, one thing is clearer than ever for us at Volvo Group: heavy transport needs to cut emissions – and it needs to happen faster. Our electric trucks and buses, and construction equipment, are already running with customers in real operations. The technology is here. But we know from experience that decarbonization is like an equation. The numbers only add up when several things come together at the same time: the total cost of ownership has to make sense, charging and refueling to be available where they are needed, rules and incentives must be stable, and transport buyers must ask for and choose low- and zero-emission transport. That is why we work with several technologies in parallel: battery electric, fuel cell electric and internal combustion engines running on renewable fuels. Different applications and regions need different solutions, and we need to support our customers throughout their decarbonization journey. None of this will happen in isolation. We need to work closely with customers, policymakers, suppliers and other actors in the transport ecosystem to make the “equation” work in more places around the world. “Technology is not the bottleneck anymore. It is all about changing a system - if piece is missing in the system, the transition stalls – no matter how good the trucks are.” says Karin Svensson, our Chief Sustainability Officer.

This week, Renault Trucks, part of Volvo Group, is extending its electric heavy-duty line-up with new long-haul models – led by the Renault Trucks E-Tech T 780, offering 600 km of range on a single charge. With these additions, Renault Trucks now provides a complete electric offer from urban distribution to long-distance haulage, giving transport operators more ways to decarbonize their fleets while keeping operations running efficiently. Key highlights of the new long-haul electric offer: • 600 km range for long-haul routes • Optimize payloads for demanding logistics • Silent, comfortable cabs designed around the driver • Confident handling comparable to a 4x2 tractor Together, these new models further strengthen Renault Trucks electric offer for customers ready to take the next step in heavy-duty electromobility.

Efficient, low-impact public transport is gaining momentum across Latin America, and Volvo Group is helping cities turn plans into reality. The Mexican state of Jalisco is adding 53 new electric buses from Volvo Buses to the Guadalajara metropolitan area – a mix of LUMINUS models and Volvo 7800 Electric buses built in Mexico. Timed to be fully operational ahead of the 2026 World Cup in soccer, the new system is designed for busy city operations, with night charging and daytime top-ups to keep vehicles on the road for longer. By replacing equivalent diesel buses, the new fleet can cut CO2 emissions by more than 35 percent – that’s over 140 tons of CO2 saved every year. A clear example of how practical electromobility can deliver cleaner air and quieter streets for city life.
