Volvo Group’s Post

What skills from gaming can you benefit from in your work life? For Benjamin Särkkä, Vice President, Cybersecurity Assurance at Volvo Group, thinking strategically comes naturally – after years of practicing it through gaming. “I sometimes end up approaching a problem differently because of something that happened in a game.” Favorite game? “I’ve really been enjoying Kingdom Two Crowns lately – it’s a micro strategy game that’s almost meditative. Some days I still fire up Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldur’s Gate 3.” Psst – this weekend we’ll be at DreamHack in Stockholm, meeting gamers and showcasing some of our latest solutions. Come say hi if you are there!

It’s a reminder that backgrounds that look “unconventional” - like gaming, can bring fresh perspectives and agility to tech work. Thanks for sharing your story with us Benjamin Särkkä 💡

Facts! Gaming has seriously sharpened my reaction time. Great for catching falling tools, the legendary disappearing 10 mm socket is always the first to go. Plus, gaming helps with those snap decisions you need to make on the spot.

This is a fantastic point, Benjamin! Strategic thinking is a critical, transferable skill, and years of practicing micro-strategy in games like Kingdom Two Crowns or Baldur's Gate 3 absolutely builds a unique muscle for problem-solving in complex, high-stakes environments like cybersecurity. It's all about anticipating moves and assessing risk. Great to see the Volvo Group recognizing and celebrating these diverse pathways to professional insight! P.S. Have a great time at DreamHack!
