Transitioning home after a hospital stay can be overwhelming, especially if you need help with your recovery. Sinai Health to Home — a program that connects teams at Mount Sinai Hospital, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, the Reactivation Care Centre and Circle of Care — makes it safer and smoother for our patients with personalized, short‑term support that starts on day one and adapts as they recover. With early nurse check-ins, a dedicated care team and plans that adjust as needs change, the program helps patients feel confident and supported as they recover at home, while also reducing the risk of gaps in care. Read more about how this program is improving the transition experience for patients: https://bit.ly/4r6c57y #SinaiHealth #MountSinaiToronto #HennickBridgepointToronto #CircleOfCare

A major milestone for fertility care in Canada - the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) has published work from our Mount Sinai Fertility team, a national leader in Fertility Preservation, showcasing the country’s first case of ovarian tissue transportation and centralized cryobanking. This new model of care expands access to fertility preservation for young oncology patients seeking future parenthood, regardless of geographic location. Dr. Jennia Michaeli, Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility specialist, clinician-investigator at Mount Sinai Fertility, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, leads the ovarian tissue cryopreservation and cancer survivorship programs. Her work brings innovation in research and clinical practice to improve outcomes for patients facing fertility-threatening treatments. This is life-changing care in action – innovation that reaches more patients and strengthens outcomes across the system. 📖 Read the full publication here: https://bit.ly/4i4O90n #MountSinaiHospital #SinaiHealth #Oncofertility #FertilityPreservation Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, U of T Jennia Michaeli, MD, REI

Sinai Health’s Antimicrobial Stewardship team works across the organization to promote safe, evidence-informed prescribing of antibiotics and antifungals. Through close collaboration with clinicians, our specialists help ensure treatments are used wisely, support decision-making at the point of care, and contribute to better outcomes for patients. By reducing unnecessary antimicrobial exposure, we strengthen patient safety and help limit the spread of antimicrobial resistance and other preventable harms. Stewardship of antibiotics and antifungals plays an essential role in keeping patients safe at Sinai Health. Our infectious disease experts and pharmacists collaborate with teams across the organization to promote thoughtful, responsible antimicrobial use and support high-quality care. By encouraging the most effective treatments and limiting unnecessary exposure, we help protect the microbiome and reduce the chance of antimicrobial resistance, medication-related harm, and infections such as C. difficile. In 2013, Mount Sinai Hospital’s Paediatrician-in-Chief, Dr. Prakesh Shah, launched the International Network for Evaluating Outcomes of Neonates (iNEO). This is one of three major collaborative networks funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research that has positioned Canada as a global leader in neonatal research. These collaborative networks standardize data collection and open the door to international collaboration and shared best practices. Their models have been adopted by other countries, supporting improved outcomes for the most vulnerable patients in neonatal intensive care units – from birth to discharge, and beyond. #WorldPrematurityDay #WPD2025 #SinaiHealth #MountSinaiToronto Canadian Institutes of Health Research | Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada
Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant death in Canada. Every year, 1 in 12 babies are born too soon. CIHR-funded researchers developed collaborative networks that have significantly improved survival rates and outcomes for preemies, making Canada a world leader in neonatal research and quality improvement.
