Unity Housing is proud to have been recognised at the Australian Community Housing (ACH) Awards last night (25 November) in Canberra.    🌟 Congratulations to our Street Speak Project Team (pictured), winners of the 2025 ACH National Team Leadership and Culture Award.   With guidance from Aboriginal Cultural Advisor Doug Clinch, the team has led tenant yarning circles, cultural workshops and developed new communication tools, helping staff build skills and creating positive outcomes for tenants. Their work is having an impact across Unity Housing and beyond. City East Concept Unveiled Yesterday’s announcement marks the concept stage of City East – an urban renewal partnership between the SA Government, City of Adelaide, Junction Australia and Unity Housing. The concept outlines a precinct that could deliver: • Four mixed-use towers up to 39 storeys • 700+ homes, including 200 affordable homes • New public spaces, laneways and activated streets • A 200-room hotel and commercial opportunities For Unity Housing, this concept reflects the potential of collaborative planning to deliver inclusive and affordable living in the CBD. Vale Peter ‘Jungle’ Phillips (1956–2025) Unity Housing is deeply saddened by the passing of Peter ‘Jungle’ Phillips - a loved member of our community, a self-taught artist and a man whose generosity and creativity touched all who knew him. Peter’s home on Marion Road was more than a place to live - it was a living, breathing gallery, overflowing with colour, heart and hope. His art reflected his life: a journey through hardship transformed by compassion and joy. Peter once said, “The most important thing is heart - that’s what I do. I paint with my heart.” Those words perfectly capture the way he lived and shared his gift with others. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Peter’s family, friends, neighbours and the many people who found inspiration in his art and spirit. His legacy will continue to brighten our community for years to come.

Today, Friday 10 October, is World Homeless Day – a reminder that safe, secure housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head, it’s the foundation for rebuilding lives. At Unity Housing, we are privileged to support people on their journey from homelessness to stability, belonging, and hope.
