But it is exposing some serious cracks in our legacy systems. Here’s what I’m observing — not from a textbook, but from market trenches: ⸻ 🔍 What E-commerce Gets Right • Demand doesn’t wait for DSRs anymore. Orders now come in at 2 AM from retailers via B2B apps — no salesman, no beat plan, just convenience. • Visibility is real-time, not spreadsheet-based. You can track SKU-level sales by pin code without waiting for SOA. • Dead stock alerts, predictive ordering, even fill rate penalties — tech is pushing us from reactive to proactive supply chains. ⸻ 💣 But Here’s Where It Hurts • Margin math goes for a toss. You may list a ₹100 MRP product, but after discounts, ads, logistics, and returns, you’re netting less than your GT margin — with 10x the complexity. • Zero-MRP leakage & price parity pressure: If your product is cheaper online, your retail network will notice — and push back. • Trust still doesn’t digitize. Distributors who’ve stood by your brand through credit cycles and unsold stock aren’t easily replaced by an app. ⸻ 💡 What’s Emerging?
