🌍 Working in an international work environment: embracing Cultural Differences is the key to success. As an Italian in the US, I have experienced firsthand the complexities and opportunities of multinational environments, where diversity can be a powerful asset if managed properly. The job of leaders in multicultural companies is to bridge the gaps and ensure that cultural differences improve the success of their teams. Here’s how to turn cultural differences into a competitive advantage. 👇 1. Create a welcoming environment by minimizing bias and integrating diversity into the corporate culture. 2. Promote diversity, inclusion and belonging by fostering a climate in which employees feel valued and have a common purpose. 3. Communicate clearly and directly, avoiding expressions that may be misunderstood or offensive to other cultures. 4. Embracing diverse perspectives and valuing all opinions, because diversity of thought can lead to innovative solutions in terms of mindsets and work styles. 5. Promote cultural awareness with seminars and cultural exchange programs to increase respect and curiosity about other cultures. Diversity not only enriches Talent Management processes, but also shapes a more dynamic and creative corporate culture. Embracing differences is the secret to excelling in today's global world! Say it louder:  #Diversity. #Equity. #Inclusion. #Belonging. Today I read Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen's powerful stance in #Berlingske: "Our basic attitude as an innovation-based company is that a company becomes strong from diversity. The ability to include everyone defines our competitiveness." https://lnkd.in/eEXGyrjS In a moment when some leaders are retreating from #DEIB commitments, this resonates deeply with my decades of experience in global public health. I've witnessed firsthand how diversity drives innovation and how inclusion saves lives – from community health centers to global initiatives. Let's break it down: ▪️ When we talk about Diversity, it means actively seeking different perspectives that drive innovation in healthcare ▪️ When we embrace Equity, it ensures everyone can fully participate and succeed ▪️ When we champion Inclusion, we create environments where every voice matters ▪️ When we foster Belonging, we build cultures where everyone can bring their whole selves to work This isn't about checking boxes. It's about: - Supporting colleagues who need flexible hours for family care - Recognizing that innovative thinking stems from unique life experiences - Ensuring all patients feel seen and understood because we reflect the communities we serve Throughout my career in public health, I've seen how DEI&B isn't just a corporate initiative – it's the foundation for addressing global health challenges. It's about having the courage to stand by these values, especially when others step back. Our ability to innovate, to serve ALL patients, to drive meaningful change in global health – it all stems from embracing diverse thoughts, experiences, and perspectives. This is how we build better solutions, how we understand different needs, how we create breakthrough innovations that serve everyone. So yes, I'll keep saying it. I'll keep living it. I'll keep building it. Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. Belonging. Because that's how we create positive change. That's how we innovate. That's how we lead. And most importantly, that's how we ensure healthcare truly serves #everyone.

Companies believe they're doing diversity when, in fact, they're merely scratching the surface. My understanding of corporate diversity has evolved too, and so have my efforts. 💡 I began by raising awareness of its importance, then tackled exclusion, followed by driving systemic change. Now, armed with experience, I'm ready to guide companies towards the transformative power of collective intelligence through diversity. But you can't reach the destination without knowing the route. 👇 Let's unpack the key aspects of each stage: 🔍 Recognition ▫ Stopping to ignore diversity. ▫ Acknowledging diversity within your organization. ▫ Realizing that diversity includes visible (demographics) and less visible aspects (cognitive, background, experiences). 🤝 Non-Discrimination ▫ Moving beyond recognition to promoting a culture of non-discrimination. ▫ Creating policies fostering respect for diversity. ▫ Starting the conversation on inclusion and equity. 🔄 Integration ▫ Realizing that acknowledging diversity and not excluding isn't enough. ▫ Integrate diversity into processes, structures, and behaviors. ▫ Reviewing employee lifecycle practices, implement diversity training, create inclusive leadership. 🌟 Leveraging Diversity ▫ Recognizing diversity as a strategic asset. ▫ Actively harnessing diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents. ▫ Creating diverse teams in terms of appearance, background, thought, and experiences to align with the goals they need to accomplish. 🧠 Collective intelligence is a testament to the power of collaboration, diversity, and shared vision, where the whole truly becomes greater than the sum of its parts. This journey of diversity evolution is one I invite you to embark on with me. Stay tuned for more updates, and don't hesitate to reach out for support. ________________________________________ On the lookout for more DEI-related insights? 📨 Join my free DEI Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/duxDH3Q7

As a global-minded professional with HR experience, I see how my journey through Brazil, Mexico, and the United States has given me unique skills and advantages in the corporate world 🌍 (I truly believe that having global experiences positively impacts people. I’ve met many individuals with similar backgrounds who stand out due to their valuable skills and insights.) Here’s how I believe global experiences can set people apart: 1️⃣ Creative Problem-Solving: Adapting to different cultures helps tackle challenges with innovative solutions and resilience. 2️⃣ Multilingual Communication: For me, speaking three languages allows me to connect with colleagues and clients from various backgrounds. This improves collaboration and helps build strong relationships that positively impact my results. 3️⃣ Cultural Insight: Living in diverse countries gives a deep understanding of different perspectives. This experience enables people to create more inclusive and effective solutions. The overall impact on the Workplace: Research from Yale University shows that multicultural teams lead to better problem-solving and innovation. By embracing diverse backgrounds, we can build more inclusive and dynamic workplaces. As an immigrant, I can say that these experiences help us navigate complexities, and when applied to professional life, they drive organizational success, especially in a workplace that values diversity. Let’s celebrate the power of diversity as a true differentiator in our workplaces! 🎉 #GlobalMindset #ProblemSolving #CulturalDiversity #DiversityInHR #HRLeadership #LanguageSkills #InclusiveWorkplace 📸 Andrew Stutesman @ Unsplash.
