🧩 Network Setup: Breaking Down the Core Components & Workflow For anyone setting up or managing on-premise network infrastructure, here's a simplified breakdown of how key components work together to keep everything running smoothly: 🔹 Patch Panel (Top) The central hub where network cables from wall ports or end-user devices terminate. ✅ Keeps cable management clean and organized. 🔗 Connects directly to the Switch using short patch cables (typically blue). 🔹 Switch (Below the Patch Panel) The traffic controller within your local network (LAN). ✅ Forwards data between devices like PCs, printers, servers, and more. 🔗 Connects to the Patch Panel, Router, and Server. 🔹 Router (Below the Switch) Acts as the bridge between your internal network and the internet (WAN). ✅ Handles IP addressing and firewall rules. 🔗 Connects to the Modem/ISP and Switch. 🔹 Server (Bottom) Provides centralized services such as file storage, internal applications, or databases. 🔗 Connects to the Switch for high-speed access across the LAN. 🔄 How Data Flows (Simplified) When a user in Room A opens a website: Their PC sends the request through a wall port → Patch Panel Patch Panel → Switch Switch → Router Router → Internet via Modem/ISP If the user accesses an internal service, the Switch directs traffic straight to the Server. This setup ensures an efficient, scalable, and secure network foundation for any organization.

B2B tech founders hire me to get featured where it counts: FT, WSJ, BBC, TechCrunch and more - because media trust builds market trust

I’ve helped 100s of tech startups secure media coverage. One of the biggest warnings I give is to avoid “Ego PR” ⤵ Ego PR looks like this: → Only wanting to be featured in national press → Turning down interview requests for press considered tier 2 media → Seeing PR as a failure if they don't appear in big media every week Don’t get me wrong - I love the buzz that comes from getting a client in national media. (If you join any video calls with me, you'll see the front page of the FT displayed behind me). Featuring clients in nationals is part of my strategy. But at the same time, if you're a B2B platform or a software solution looking for quality leads, will they come from: •  a trade/niche publication? •  or national media? Let's also not forget that a lot of national press follow the trade outlets and will pick up stories from here too. My clients see more consistent results from trade publications and niche platforms because they’re more relevant to your business. So while it might be nice to be in a national paper, and obviously we all want this for visibility, in terms of what's actually going to drive sales for you, we need to be strategic. This is why my PR strategies always include a mix: — Big pieces to boost your visibility and credibility — Trade pieces to build your pipeline Don’t fall into the trap of Ego PR.

  • Last week, I visited a friend’s home for Ganpati. The moment I stepped in, I noticed the warm golden glow from their pendant lights. Instantly, the space felt cozy, intimate it almost invited conversation. Contrast that with walking into a brightly lit office at 9am suddenly, you’re alert, focused, and in “work mode.” Same person, different lighting, completely different mindset. Lighting isn’t just about visibility it shapes how we feel and how we behave. Dynamic lighting design is transforming the way we experience interiors. From boosting productivity to creating calm, light directly influences our mood, perception, and wellbeing. Research in human-centric lighting design shows: • Warm tones encourage relaxation and social connection • Bright, cool light improves focus and alertness • Shifts in light intensity can change how we perceive space , making rooms feel larger, cozier, or more dynamic Lighting is no longer just a technical layer of design , it’s a psychological tool. A simple change you can try at home: swap your bedroom lamp bulbs for warmer-toned lighting. The effect? You’ll likely find yourself winding down faster at night , reading feels calmer, sleep comes easier, and your body naturally starts syncing with its circadian rhythm. It’s a small shift, but it shows how light influences not just our mood, but our overall wellbeing. #LightingDesign #InteriorDesign #Architecture #HumanCentricDesign #SpatialExperience #DesignInnovation #WellbeingThroughDesign #DynamicLighting

This network design features a dual-infrastructure setup using two different firewall platforms, FortiGate and Palo Alto, to provide redundancy and segmentation. The design aims to ensure high availability and robust security for a network with critical assets, likely belonging to a mid to large-sized enterprise. The network is connected to two Internet Service Providers (ISPs) labeled ISP-A and ISP-B. The connections are managed through two switches (SW-15 and SW-16) on the FortiGate side, and two other switches (SW-19 and SW-110) on the Palo Alto side. These switches act as the primary and backup points of entry for the internet traffic, ensuring that if one ISP fails, the other can still provide connectivity. This setup provides resilience and fault tolerance. On the FortiGate side, two FortiGate firewalls are deployed in a high-availability (HA) configuration. This setup means that one firewall will take over if the other fails, providing uninterrupted security services. The firewalls are connected to layer 3 switches (L3-SW7 and L3-SW13) which manage internal routing and distribution of traffic. The layer 2 switches (L2-SW13) underneath connect to end devices or servers, shown as VPCs. This segmentation allows the internal network to be divided into different VLANs (VLAN 10, 21, 22, 23), each with its IP subnet, offering isolation and traffic management according to the organization’s requirements. Similarly, on the Palo Alto side, there are two firewalls, also configured in HA. They are connected to a layer 3 switch (L3-SW8) that performs a similar role in routing and distributing traffic. VLANs (30, 31, 32, 33) are used here as well, indicating that the network is segmented based on functions or departments. This helps in controlling and securing traffic flows, as well as in implementing policies such as access control lists (ACLs) or quality of service (QoS). The purpose of this design is twofold: to provide high availability and to ensure security and segmentation across the enterprise network. By using two different firewall platforms, the design can leverage the strengths of each while maintaining a diverse security posture, which is often recommended to avoid single points of failure or uniform vulnerabilities. The VLAN segmentation helps in managing and isolating traffic, ensuring that security policies can be applied more granularly. Additionally, the HA configurations on both the FortiGate and Palo Alto sides prevent downtime during hardware failures, contributing to the network's resilience. This setup offers a scalable, secure, and resilient architecture capable of supporting a range of enterprise applications and services while maintaining strict security controls and high availability.

🔆 Understanding Kelvin: The Temperature of Light in Design In interior and architectural design, light isn't just about brightness—it's about tone, mood, and purpose. The Kelvin scale (K) measures the color temperature of a light source. From the warmth of candlelight to the cool clarity of daylight, each value tells a story: 2700K–3000K → Warm, golden light: Perfect for creating cozy, relaxing atmospheres. 3500K–4000K → Neutral white: Balanced and versatile for everyday functionality. 5000K–6500K → Cool, crisp light: Enhances focus and mimics natural daylight—ideal for workspaces or galleries. As designers, understanding Kelvin helps us shape how people feel in a space—whether it's comfort at home, clarity in a studio, or elegance in a showroom. Light is a material—use it with intention. #Kelvin #LightingDesign #InteriorArchitecture #ColorTemperature #DesignWithPurpose #MoodByDesign #InteriorDesign #ArchitecturalLighting #DesignTips #LinkedInDesign #WarmVsCoolLight

Creating Sensory-Driven, High-End Spaces with Intentionality, Precision and Timelessness in Mind

Lighting in design is a nervous system language. Long before we built walls or wrote words, we read the language of light. The human body doesn’t just see light, it actually feels light on a cellular level. Its tone. Its rhythm. Its emotional temperature. Modern neuroscience has confirmed that light directly influences the production of hormones that govern your mood, alertness, and circadian rhythm. This means that modern neuroscience has also confirmed what the most intuitive designers have always known: Light is not just visual, it’s hormonal, neurological, and deeply emotional. It sets the pace of our days. It tells our bodies when to rest, when to focus, and when to feel safe. In high-end design, this goes far beyond pretty pendants or trendy sconces. This is emotional architecture. This week we explore how sensory-first lighting design helps regulate the nervous system, restore well-being, and quietly redefine what high-end living really means. The difference between good and extraordinary interior design is avoiding these 6 subtle pitfalls. (a mini guide) Quality interior design transcends trends and price points. After 15+ years of enhancing luxury interior spaces, I've identified problems that compromise everything. 1] Furniture-to-wall syndrome Pushing furniture against walls creates a boxy, uninviting effect. I tend to put key pieces 6-12 inches from walls, creating breathing room that transforms how a space feels. 2] Acoustic considerations Floor-to-ceiling glass walls and marble floors often create echo chambers without planning. I integrate acoustic solutions like fabric-wrapped panels and strategic soft furnishings that maintain aesthetic integrity while creating acoustic comfort. 3] Understanding the sun's path This one is non-negotiable. I've seen too many east-facing bedrooms become unusable at dawn due to glare. Mapping solar angles in the floor plan allows for smart material selections and window treatments to enhance daily living. 4] Workflow conflicts If not checked, these can create friction points. Before finalizing any location, I insist on physically walking through the space. This prevents all the small problems like doors hitting the breakfast bar or the wardrobe blocking your mirror. 5] Elevated interiors must balance. To scale, you need ceilings paired with petite fixtures to create visual disconnect. I match lighting scale to ceiling height and room volume for spaces that feel coherent and intentional. 6] Planning tech integration This must be done from day 1. When planning, remember to consider hidden wiring solutions and dedicated tech stations to avoid interiors looking cluttered. Avoiding these mistakes forms the foundation of every Essajees Atelier project we do. Because true luxury isn't just about expensive materials. Got your own design headaches as a homeowner?
