I remember helping a STUDENT ( Fresher ) last year— He messaged me: “Sir, I’ve never worked anywhere. What should I even put in my portfolio?” He had skills. He had potential. But he thought without an internship or job, he had nothing to show. Here’s what I told him 👇 You don’t need experience. You need proof of skill. Here’s how he built a solid portfolio from scratch: 1️⃣ Pick 2–3 small projects → To show real application (todo apps, clone UIs, APIs). 2️⃣ Write what YOU did → Not what the tutorial said. Show your thinking. 3️⃣ Document your process → Learning notes, errors, fixes = gold. 4️⃣ Make it public → Share on GitHub, LinkedIn, personal site. 5️⃣ Tell a story → Why you built it, what you learned. And here are 5 FREE websites to host or showcase your work: → [GitHub Pages] -> (https://pages.github.com) → [Notion] ->(https://www.notion.so) → [Replit] ->(https://replit.com) → [Netlify] ->(https://www.netlify.com) → [LinkedIn Projects Section] ->(https://linkedin.com) No job? No problem. Show what you’re learning—and that you can build. Your turn: What’s one project you’d love to add to your portfolio? P.S. Share this with a student who needs to hear it. #studentportfolio #firstjob #buildinpublic #techportfolio #careerstart

Students are often not able to articulate to employers the skills they develop through their degree programs. Preparing students to do this and providing opportunities for them to apply these skills in work-related contexts will prepare them for the job market. Also important is providing students with a way to track and reflect on their development of these skills over the course of their studies. Cat Bailey introduces the idea of a longitudinal skills portfolio. She describes the portfolio’s key features as portability, self-assessment, and collaboration and feedback. At a time when employers are increasingly using skills-based hiring, a longitudinal skills portfolio will help students navigate the job market and structure their development once they secure a job. #SkillsBasedHiring #Employability #CareerReadiness https://lnkd.in/e_Kz3pxV

International Students, this is how you can create opportunities for yourself: 99.99 of career advice I see online for us doesn’t cover this. → Having a portfolio website. A cover letter & resume are not enough. To stand-out, you need more. As a grad/undergrad, you constantly chase jobs, internships, etc. - all the time. A digital portfolio can help you stand out [here’s how] [1] All details in 1 place You can show your projects, achievements, extra-curricular activities, etc. Tell them how awesome you are :) [2] You can be yourself. A resume has a limit. A portfolio doesn’t. Go beyond text, add pictures, and tell your story. Get as much expressive and creative you want to be and tell the world about yourself. [3] More brownie points. Attaching a portfolio with your resume + cover letter gives you more advantage. It shows you are dedicated, committed, and professional. Let them see you are the best person for the job. [4[ You can go the extra mile and show your creativity. For example, you want to work at Spotify. - Design your portfolio in the green and black color scheme. - Showcase your strengths + projects like a playlist. It proves you’re willing to put in the work (I already knew that :) Pro Tip → You can even customize your resume like this. [5] Your story matters. Your resume and portfolio are just different ways of telling it. My advice → Showcase your personality. Your portfolio should scream ‘YOU.’ When they read it, they should know your values and how you will help them grow. That’s it. I am working on building mine. What is holding you back? ____ P.S: Do you have a portfolio? If yes, let’s see it, drop the link. P.P.S: If you don't have one, don't worry, I'll be writing a post on making one without coding. Stay tuned :)
