    As another year draws to a close, I want to share my annual reflection framework, which has consistently guided my personal and professional growth. Here's how I intentionally process my year: 1- Professional Milestones: I carefully examine my career journey by asking: - Which achievements truly moved the needle? - What challenges reshaped my professional perspective? - How has my leadership approach evolved? 2- Growth Markers: This is where I analyze my personal development: - Which new habits transformed my effectiveness? - What relationships proved most impactful? - Where did I demonstrate unexpected resilience? 3- Strategic Planning: I then channel these insights into action: - Select 2-3 core focus areas. (I always limit these areas, but adding stretch goals helps sometimes) - Develop concrete action steps. (Don't leave it in a dusty document; Always review and adjust through the year) - Identify accountability partners (I have many friends and colleagues who keep me on the right track). This method has been transformative for me. Year after year, it helps me turn reflection into meaningful progress.     Your best career investment? Study yourself. 📌 How I do a "career retro" in 7 steps: AKA, "Yudi’s Personal Growth Breakdown" (Yeah, still working on the name 😅) 👀 Never done a career retro before? It's just a fancy way of looking back at your journey to understand what worked, what didn’t, and how to grow from it. TLDR; When things don’t go as planned (no job offers, internship rejections), instead of self-blame, run a "blameless retrospective" — a candid analysis of your steps, without judgment. Here’s my 7-step process to boost your growth: 1. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 30-60 𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. → Find a quiet space → Remove distractions → Grab a pen and paper (yes, the old school way) 2. 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻" 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻. Maybe it’s your last round of interviews, or that application you never heard back from. Use neutral language: ❌ "I always fail." ✅ "I’ll reflect on what I can improve and grow from this." 3. 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Write out the key steps, from the moment you started applying or preparing, to the final result. Be objective, and avoid blaming yourself: →Job search started in April →Applied to 10 companies in May →First interview in June →Got to the final round with two companies (Your goal is to break down each part of the journey like movie scenes 🎬) 4. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀: → How did you prepare for applications? (Resume, networking, skills) → Who influenced your results? (Mentors, recruiters, friends) → What was your mindset during the process? → What did you communicate well/not-so-well? 5. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗮𝘀𝗸: → What was in my control? → How did each step connect to the final outcome? This is key to figuring out what you can adjust for next time. 6. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Shortlist 1-3 growth areas: → What patterns did you notice? → Have you seen these patterns before? → What will you start, stop, or continue? My favorite question here: "If I repeated every action I took, would I get where I want to go? If yes, why? If no, why not?" 7. 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: → How do you feel about this process now? → What will you do differently next time? 📌 The goal is self-awareness, not self-judgment. That’s how you grow from setbacks and bounce back stronger. Whether you’re applying for internships, struggling to get interview calls, or breaking into tech from scratch—it’s all part of the process. Reflect, adapt, and most importantly, keep going.     A while ago, I found myself in a conversation about career growth. Someone excitedly shared their recent promotion, and the room instantly lit up with congratulations. But as the discussion went on, another person quietly mentioned they had just completed a year in the same role—no title change, no big salary jump, but they had finally mastered a skill they once struggled with. The reaction? A polite nod. No major applause. And that made me think—why do we only celebrate the obvious milestones at work? Not all progress is loud. Some of it happens in the background: - The person who overcomes self-doubt and finally speaks up in meetings. - The one who takes a sideways move to explore a new function, even if it means “starting over.” - The leader who shifts from being directive to empowering their team, even if it doesn’t come with a new title. - The professional who prioritizes mental well-being, setting boundaries instead of burning out. This is all progress. Just because it doesn’t fit a traditional corporate success story doesn’t mean it’s any less valuable. As professionals, we need to give ourselves permission to define success on our own terms. And as leaders, we need to recognize that growth isn’t always about speed—it’s about substance.     Sometimes We Just Need to Pause and Appreciate Our Journey In the fast-paced world where we all advancement in life, business and career, it's easy to get caught up in the next goal, the next promotion, or the next big project. We often focus so much on "what’s next" that we forget to reflect on how far we’ve come. But sometimes, we just need to pause and appreciate our journey. As I reflect on my own 24 years professional career journey, I see milestones that not only mark time but moments of personal growth, lessons learned, and resilience built. Why is this important? 1. Recognize Growth: Every step in our career, whether big or small, shapes who we are. From overcoming challenges to developing new skills, each experience contributes to our professional growth. Pausing allows us to acknowledge the progress we’ve made and the strengths we’ve built over time. 2. Reignite Motivation: Constantly striving for the next milestone can be exhausting. Taking a moment to reflect on your journey helps you reconnect with your "why"—the passion and purpose that drove you in the first place. This reflection can reignite motivation, reminding you of the achievements you’ve already accomplished. 3. Gain Perspective: When we’re always moving forward, we can sometimes lose sight of what truly matters. Reflecting on your career path helps you evaluate whether you're aligned with your long-term goals. It offers a chance to reassess, refocus, and even recalibrate if necessary. 4. Celebrate Wins: Celebrating milestones, no matter how small, is essential. It’s easy to overlook your achievements when you're chasing the next big goal, but each success—whether it’s a new role, a completed project, or a skill mastered—deserves recognition. It’s not about being complacent, but about appreciating the hard work that got you there. 5. Build Confidence: The career journey is filled with uncertainty, and we can often feel like we’re not progressing fast enough. But when you pause and reflect on the road you’ve traveled, you realize how much you’ve achieved. This boosts your confidence and reassures you that you’re on the right path. So, take a moment today.
