What to look for when searching for positive company culture

A well-defined, inclusive and positive culture is the foundation that binds an organization and its employees. And it needs extra attention right now for many companies as they adapt to a hybrid model.

Compelling perks and office amenities like catered lunches and yoga classes are fantastic, but they aren’t necessarily a good indicator of a positive work environment.

Consider these points when reflecting on your current organization, or when exploring a new one:

  1. A well documented vision

The company’s goals and values, and how people in the company will be treated and are expected to behave are quite standard. Delve a little deeper and look for unique identifiers that share some insight about Senior Management.

  1. Personal Connection

If you have been working from home during the pandemic, this point is especially important. Our day is filled with meetings, so how does your organization encourage relationship and rapport building? Make sure there is opportunity for human interaction and genuine dialogue outside of work talk.

  1. Diversity and Inclusion

D&I is quite a hot topic at the moment, with more and more education and advocacy happening within organizations. This is not a set and forget activity. Get curious and ask questions about how your company is constantly evolving and implementing best practices.
