Kawasaki Pro Bono Summit 2025 Held for the First Time
On September 1, the NEC Pro Bono Club, a network of 800 volunteer employees across the NEC Group, hosted the first-ever Kawasaki Pro Bono Summit. The online event, organized with Kawasaki City, Fujitsu Pro Bono Club, and Senshu University, explored how industry, government, and academia can collaborate to build stronger communities. Moderated by IISE Chairperson Kumi Fujisawa, the discussion highlighted the growing impact of pro bono work on solving local challenges and fostering partnerships that create social value.
Girls Discover the Excitement of Space Careers through “Girls Meet STEM”
On August 24, NEC employees introduced female junior high and high school students to careers in space during the “Girls Meet STEM” event. As part of a collaboration with the Shintaro Yamada D&I Foundation, the session inspired participants to pursue science and technology fields. NEC Corporation of America Walks in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness
Employees across the United States joined the Susan G. Komen® MORE THAN PINK Walks to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Teams from New Jersey, California, the DMV area, and Richardson, Texas, participated in local events and virtual walks. The NEC Foundation of America contributed $30,000 to support programs nationwide, underscoring NEC’s commitment to social value and community well-being. Together, employees demonstrated solidarity and compassion in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
NEC Australia Drives Inclusive Audio Technology in Public Transport
NEC Australia is advancing accessibility through a national project that tests new audio technology in public transport for people with hearing loss. In partnership with La Trobe University, Get Skilled Access, and iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre, the trial explores Auracast™ Bluetooth® audio to complement existing hearing loops. Combining research, co-design, and pilot testing, the project aims to shape future standards for inclusive transport across Australia.
Celebrating Our New Headquarters in Switzerland
NEC’s Digital Government and Digital Finance Business Unit (DGDF) celebrated the opening of its new office in Zurich with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception. The event marked the relocation of DGDF’s headquarters from Japan to Switzerland, strengthening NEC’s presence in one of Europe’s key financial and technology hubs. Avaloq CEO Martin Greweldinger and DGDF President Tomoki Kubo shared remarks on collaboration and NEC’s expanding role in digital transformation.
Raising Funds, Raising Awareness: Macmillan Coffee Morning and First Aid Workshop with St John’s Ambulance
In London, employees hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning, sharing homemade treats and raising funds for cancer support services. The event was followed by a hands-on first aid workshop with St John’s Ambulance volunteers for World First Aid Day. Participants learned CPR and emergency response skills, leaving the session more confident and connected as a team.
Running for Care: Team Spirit Shines at Madrid’s Carrera por los Cuidados
Employees in Spain joined the Carrera por los Cuidados (“Running for Care”) in Madrid, celebrating those who care for others. The event promoted balance, self-care, and well-being, reflecting NEC’s values of empathy and community. Crossing the finish line was symbolic of teamwork and shared purpose.
Volunteering at the Foodbank: NEC’s Commitment to Community Service
London colleagues volunteered at Hillingdon Foodbank, sorting stock and packing food parcels for local families. The initiative, part of NEC’s Make-a-Difference Drive, supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals and encourages employees to dedicate time to community service.

NEC India recently proudly hosted Mr. Nobuhiro Endo from NEC Corporation, Japan, at its Noida Office. The visit emphasized NEC’s continued efforts and advancements in engaging with key government stakeholders. The discussions focused on NEC India’s evolving role as a key market and strategic hub for the Global South, highlighting emerging growth opportunities and the country’s increasing importance as a Global Capability Center (GCC).

NEC Labs Wraps Up a Successful Summer Internship Program
NEC Labs America concluded its summer internship program at the Princeton headquarters, where students contributed to research in optical networking, machine learning, data science, and system security. The interns’ creativity and curiosity resonated with NEC’s mission to create social value through technology. To celebrate, the team gathered at Topgolf in Edison, New Jersey, marking a season of innovation, collaboration, and mentorship.
