Trina Solar Japan Energy Secures Three Projects in Japan’s 25th FIP Auction
Tokyo, September 10th, 2025 — Trina Solar Japan Energy (TSJE) and its affiliated SPC companies have secured three solar projects in Japan’s 25th Feed-in Premium (FIP) auction, adding more than 33 MWdc of renewable capacity across Hyogo, Chiba, and Hokkaido.
The portfolio includes a 0.8114 MWdc project in Hyogo Tatsuno Ichinoho, a 0.73416 MWdc project in Chiba Kamakari, and a 31.45 MWdc project in Hokkaido Yufutsu Abira. Construction for all three sites is planned to begin in 2026, with the Hyogo and Chiba projects expected to reach commercial operation in 2027, while the Hokkaido project is scheduled for August 2028. Together, these facilities will generate nearly 39.4 GWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to supplying the power needs of more than 10,000 households, while supporting Japan’s decarbonisation and energy transition goals.
The Hyogo project is expected to deliver approximately 0.938 GWh annually, the Chiba site around 0.807 GWh, and the Hokkaido development about 37.6 GWh. All three will be developed by Trina Solar Japan Energy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable growth in the Japanese market.
“These successful bids highlight our commitment to expanding clean energy capacity across Japan,” said Xie Aiming, TSJE BD Head, “Through these projects, we aim to deliver reliable renewable power, strengthen local communities, and support Japan’s journey toward a net-zero future.”
The projects secured winning tariffs of 6.5 JPY/kWh for the Hokkaido site and 7.73 JPY/kWh for the Chiba and Hyogo sites. These rates are 16 % lower than the Fiscal Year 2025 FIP (Feed-in Premium) auction price ceiling, which was set between 8.68 JPY/kWh and 8.90 JPY/kWh, and are 3.4 % below the weighted-average price of the 20th solar auction in Japan, which was 6.84 JPY/kWh (TaiyangNews; Japan Energy Hub; METI; RTS Corp.).
