Tips help say “thanks.” And with rideshare drivers, there’s a lot to be thankful for — whether it’s whisking you to your flight in the middle of the night or getting the objective relationship advice you might just need to hear.
But some drivers just rake in more tips than others — one even spilled about a tip that was $120. Here are the secrets of the top-tipped drivers on Lyft's platform.

The science behind getting drivers better tips
Anthony Sledge, a growth marketing manager at Lyft, had a sneaking suspicion that most riders want to tip their drivers, but just forget. In his mind, making it easier for riders to give tips was yet another opportunity to increase driver earnings.
So he did a two-week experiment testing push notification phrasing. The result? Riders tipped an additional $3.48 per ride. Here’s a look under the hood at the change that increased tipping.
