A Journey of Growth and Impact at FGF: An Interview with Janvi Thaker

Janvi brings her full energy and passion to work every day, and it shows. From her early days as a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to leading major enterprise-level transformations, her journey is a testament to saying yes to growth, even when it’s uncomfortable. We sat down with Janvi to learn more about her time at FGF, the lessons that shaped her, and the energy she brings to everything she does.

 Meet Janvi

In 2013, Janvi moved from India to Canada with a background in genetics, a curiosity for systems, and a passion for solving complex problems. She had studied in the UK and discovered quality assurance during a co-op placement at a food company, where she realized that QA was the perfect intersection of technical thinking and people interaction.

Her path to FGF wasn’t linear. While applying for permanent residency, she needed to complete a certain number of work hours and was applying widely. FGF responded quickly. At the time, she heard mixed reviews about the company, but walking into the interview changed everything. “I met with the hiring leader, and the questions he asked were incredibly thoughtful. I remember thinking, this place is vibrant”, she reminisced. She took the offer and, without knowing it, stepped into what would become a transformative journey, not just in her career, but in how she saw herself.

 Jumping In Before You're Ready

Janvi admits that in her early days at FGF, she didn’t always feel prepared. “There were moments when I thought, I’m not ready for this,” she shares. “But I learned something important. When you don’t feel ready, that’s when you grow.” Less than a year into her role, she was promoted to QA Lead, a move that surprised even her. “I didn’t feel like I deserved it yet. But others saw something in me that I hadn’t seen in myself.”

Her leader once told her, “When you speak, the room listens.” That comment stuck with her and helped her embrace the discomfort of growth.

“Growth isn’t comfortable. You have to jump in, even if you don’t have all the answers,” she says. “That’s how you learn. That’s how you expand.”

Fueling Growth With Energy and Intention

Over nearly a decade at FGF, Janvi has grown alongside the organization. She’s thrived in a culture where energy is contagious, and authenticity is encouraged.

“When you bring energy to a place that’s built on energy, it multiplies.”

That mindset also shaped her views on leadership. “I used to believe leaders were made. Now, I think it’s both. You’re born with something, but the right environment helps you shape it. FGF helped shape me.”

Her career took a major turn when she helped commission FGF’s next state-of-the-art facility. That 11-month stretch taught her more than she had learned in years. “The learning was insane. [...] It was one of the most intense and rewarding chapters of my career.”

If you want growth, and you’re willing to work for it, FGF will meet you halfway, and then some. “FGF gets something from me, but I get something from FGF,” she says. “It’s an exchange of energy, ideas, and learning. That’s what makes this more than just a workplace.”

Leading Quality Innovation Across the Network

Today, Janvi plays a critical role in FGF’s continuous improvement journey. She leads enterprise-wide projects that drive operational excellence, streamline quality systems, and make work easier for teams across the business. “At FGF, we solve interesting problems with interesting people. And those problems are meaningful.”

She helped pioneer a sanitation scheduling tool, the first of its kind in the industry, and rolled out a digital field app that drastically reduced paperwork on the floor. “It’s not just about tech. It’s about meaningful changes that help real people do their jobs better.”

One of her proudest moments was taking on a project that many had deemed “cursed” -FGF’s traceability system. “People said, ‘Don’t touch it,’” she recalls. “But I wanted it. I found a way to simplify it and make it work. That unlocked so much learning, in QA, supply chain, and systems design.”

She also led the transformation of IQMS, FGF’s Integrated Quality Management System, across 12 sites in just 14 months. “They told us we had a year. Then they said, ‘Can you do it in six months?’ We did it. And we built an implementation engine that still runs strong today.”

The FGF Secret Sauce

We asked Janvi what makes FGF such a special place to work. Her answer was simple: “The people.”

“There’s this incredible synergy,” she says. “Everyone here has drunk the Kool-Aid, in the best way. If you have the drive, you’ll be supported. And if you’re open to being challenged, you’ll grow. Fast.”

She especially values how flat and open the culture is. “You’re never told you’re too much here. I’m energetic and blunt, and that’s okay. I can bring my full self to work, and my personality actually helps me do my job better.”

 Advice for New Team Members

“Say yes, especially to the big things,” she says. “That’s how I grew. I kept saying yes, even when I wasn’t sure I was ready. Every time I did, I learned more than I ever thought possible. Save your ‘no’ for when it really matters.”

A Life Full of Energy - At Work and Beyond

Janvi’s energy doesn’t stop when the workday ends. She channels her creativity into DIY home projects, drawing, dance classes, and travel. Every year, she takes two trips, one for her birthday, and one with her best friend. Recently, she hiked through Portugal and road-tripped to Lake Tahoe. At home, she’s become a part-time plumber, electrician, and interior designer, all self-taught.
