LinkedIn Chat: Join Me To Discuss #GivingTuesday and NTEN on Dec. 3rd at 9 am PST
I'm taking my red hat off on #GivingTuesday (Dec. 3) to celebrate a small nonprofit organization named NTENand its work to support the largest and most caring community of nonprofit techies to do their best work.

But first, let say a few words about why I'm supporting the NTEN community. NTEN is the premier nonprofit technology community. It's program help nonprofit techies like me connect and learn how to use technology for mission-driven work that is transforming our world. I've been a member of this community since the beginning, and I enjoy being part of something that is bigger than just me.
The NTEN Community is now 50,000 people strong! To celebrate the strength of the growing community, I invite you to join NTEN's Board and other Community Champions like me to take the 2013 NTEN Challenge. And, there's no better day to do it then on #GivingTuesday, a national day of charitable giving.
I have to also applaud Amy Sample Ward, CEO of NTEN, a smallish nonprofit, for seeing the benefits of collective action and participation. As she recently shared online, "Participating in a formal, large-scale fundraising effort like Giving Tuesday gives us an opportunity to remind the community that we are a nonprofit, too – working to raise funds to support the various programs we do all year."
NTEN launches its NTEN Challenge campaign every year. So, as Amy points out, "Adding ourselves to the Giving Tuesday list takes only a minute, and using it as a recognized event (hey, it’s Giving Tuesday, and we are participating) supports a call to donate that we are already planning to make. And may just be the nudge that gets a support to promote that they donated instead of just privately responding to an online appeal. The additional investment is low, but the potential social sharing and additional donations is higher than that small investment."
