Thara Gopalan’s Post

Last night we launched the ICDR Malaysia Committee, putting together some of the brightest minds across international dispute resolution and transactions. We heard from Datin Grace C G Yeoh as to the scale of investments flowing into Malaysia, and some industries we may wish to focus on over the next few years. We also heard from the committee’s indefatigable chair Louise Azmi about what the committee is going to do, and the need to spotlight Malaysian legal talent on the international stage. Finally, we heard from Dato' Lim Chee Wee about the importance of neutrality and optionality, as the ICDR seeks to be a choice for Malaysian businesses. I had the privilege of sharing some insights into the American Arbitration Association -International Centre for Dispute Resolution® (ICDR)’s offerings and caseload, with a sneakpeak into our preliminary views on what 2024’s statistics might look like. Watch this space for updates! Thank you to our panelists, advisory council members, committee members, and the friends of ICDR who braved traffic and lent your support to the launch of this initiative. We look forward to being more present in Malaysia, and contributing to the ecosystem meaningfully.
