Scrum.org’s Post

If you’re still running every Scrum event, you’ve become the team’s meeting host, not their Scrum Master. Get some thoughts on this from PST Chris Belknap: https://lnkd.in/eJFFwRr4 #ScrumMaster #Facilitation

  • Animated scene of a host holding a microphone beside a table with three blurred team members under a banner reading 'Welcome to THE DAILY SCRUM SHOW!'.

A Scrum Master who leads every event traps the team in dependence. The real value emerges when facilitation evolves into self management and the framework becomes muscle memory, not a calendar invitation.

Well said. And the transition can be challenging — habits, expectations, and comfort zones get in the way. But enabling teams to run events without us is exactly where the real growth happens

I see a different issue here. If you already use tools to track the team’s progress, why do you need a meeting at all? You could simply post your status in a dedicated chat or channel. Who is this meeting actually for? If you have a blocker, are you really waiting until the daily to bring it up? Seriously? From what I see in this picture, it looks more like a one-person show than a meaningful team activity.
