Systems mapping in team coaching
- When you are stuck in a system, it's hard to look into it from outside. That's where team coaches come in. We help the team shift from seeing itself as a victim of the system to seeing itself as an influencer. In this video, we explore a key tool called systems mapping. And in systems mapping, we start by asking the team to identify all its key stakeholders and influencers. Influencers are people who affect what the team is able to do. Stakeholders are people who are affected by what the team does. Sometimes stakeholders are the people that bear the cost of the team's mistakes. Next, we describe how the relationship functions, what's working well to both parties benefit and what isn't? How do their needs and objectives align with those of the team? What conversations with stakeholders could we have to create greater alignment with them? But we can go at least one step further in understanding the system. How do these stakeholders interact with each other? What tensions and alliances…
