Use resource governor

Sometimes in the course of managing your servers, you're going to have to make some decisions as to when you can allow the server to run at basically full speed. So there's times where maybe I want to run maintenance and I need to limit the amount of resources that users can use or, you know, just sort of slow the server down for whatever reason. I mean, it's not super, super common, but SQL Server provides a way to do just that and you can govern resources using the Resource Governor. So the Resource Governor is what we're going to take a look at in this lesson. So to find it, I'll just come over to my SQL Server instance here and under management there is a node called Resource Governor. I'll expand that, and underneath, there is a node called Resource Pools, and this is what we're going to look at setting up in this lesson. I'm just going to right click and select "New resource pool," and then I'll just make this all gigantic so we can see it. And you'll see here what I can set up…
