Understand data masking

So among all the ways you can protect data in your SQL Server, one of them is data masking. So I can block access to rows, I can block access to columns, I can encrypt data, but what if I need to see some portion of data but not necessarily reveal all of said data? And that's what data masking is all about. And it'll make more sense here when we walk through this demo.
