Constraining with dimensions
- [Instructor] Dimensions play an important role in the creation of a good, flexible family. Without reference planes and dimensions in the family, you have absolutely no control over anything other than the current size and shape of the family. Dimensions also play an important role in locking down portions of your family you want to stay constant. So by adding some reference planes, I'd like to go ahead and add some dimensions in this video. To get started, jump into to Revit under families, go new. Scroll down till you find generic model and select it. Click open. Let's start by adding some reference planes. You can either click the ref plane button on the (indistinct) panel, or you can right-click a reference plane and create similar. On the draw panel, click pick lines. Go ahead and offset one foot. Go to the left, go to the right, go up, then go down. Hit escape a couple of times. Now, as I mentioned before, I like to put a few reference planes in there, then I like to dimension…
