Using the Crop tool

While it's certainly possible to crop your images using Camera Raw, there may be instances where you need to crop or straighten an image later in your workflow, once you know the size or the aspect ratio that you need for a design or layout. Let's take a moment and look at the crop tool's many options in Photoshop. We can select the crop tool either by tapping the C key or we can select it from the toolbar. Photoshop automatically places a crop marquee around the entire image, but when you first select the crop tool. Instead of starting by adjusting the crop marquee, you can simply drag in the image to create your own marquee. Then we can use any of the different handles in order to resize the marquee, and we can click and drag in the center in order to reposition the marquee. If we want to crop from the center, we can hold down the Option key on Mac or the Alt key on Windows, and then it would crop inwards from both sides.
