Merging and flattening layers
As your documents begin to contain more and more layers, sometimes those file sizes will grow to be quite large. So people are always looking for a way to reduce file size. But unfortunately, the different ways that Photoshop has to merge layers or flatten images also remove some of the flexibility. But let's take a look at them so you can decide for yourself. So in the lower left, I'm going to change the status bar to document sizes. So now we can see the document size on the left, which would be the flattened size. And then the document size on the right is the layered size. So we can see that it's quite a bit larger. One thing that we can do is we could select everything on the canvas and then choose the image menu and choose to crop anything that extends beyond the visible canvas area. Now, when we first started this layout, We positioned the greens file upwards in the image and some of the greens are actually being kept track of, but they're not in the visible canvas area. So…
