Drawing curves with the Pen tool

While creating straight line paths just requires clicking the mouse, creating curved paths takes a little bit of practice because you need to click and drag in order to set up the direction for the way that you want the path to go. In the Paths panel, I'm going to click in the gray area to make sure that I don't have any paths selected, and then I'm going to choose the View menu, and then Show, and then Guides, because I have some guides drawn in this document. I'll use command one in order to zoom in and we'll draw our first curved path. I'll tap the P key in order to select the pen tool and I'm going to click and drag. So not just a click because that would just set down a control point, but instead I'll click and start dragging up in order to create the first control point and set the direction for the way that I want the path to go.
