Correcting white balance with a gray card
- Another low light situation that needs a white balance adjustment. I say that because this image is too warm. And yes, streetlights at night are warm, usually, but they're not this warm. And I just, I don't like the way this looks. And as I mentioned before, even if I want an image that's a little bit warm, it's better to start with correct white balance and make it more warm than to just have an image that I don't even know what's correct. So I could grab my white balance dropper here and click on something in the scene that I think is supposed to be white, but I'm not sure how to identify that. You could say, "Well, the paint on the street is white." Well, no, the paint on the street is white with lots of dirt and grime over it. So I don't know where there's a clean pixel that I can really trust. There are white cars over here, but look, I've got two white cars in a row, and they're not the same color. So I don't know which one is actually a truer white. I could come over here…
