Staying anonymous

- [Narrator] When you search a particular site it usually leaves a tracking cookie on your computer which can store, among other things, what you searched for. You've probably noticed that when you search for a product you start seeing ads for it everywhere. That product will follow your browsing experience around. You may have also noticed that if you repeatedly search for the same flight the price keeps going up. For this reason if I'm doing holiday shopping, I have a particularly sensitive search, or I'm browsing flights, I always put my search engine into incognito or private browsing mode first. Instead of just typing my search into the Google box from here, I'm going to put it in private browsing mode. This means that during your session your computer will not save cache, cookies, or a history of what sites you visited. Now it can still be logged. Your ISP knows all of these things, but it's just not being saved locally…
