Lifeforms DIF: Buchla bongos

Lifeforms DIF: Buchla bongos

(electronic music) - [Instructor] The recipe to create the classic Buchla bongo sound is to create a frequency modulated patch with two oscillators, something with some complex harmonics, like a vibrating membrane, and then to feed that through a low pass gate that's just being triggered to let a quick impulse of sound through. Let's go ahead and recreate that with this setup and see how the diff works in this context. To do that I'm going to do some repatching here. I'm going to change the disting here to mode 4C, which is this linear FM patch. By default, it has a sine wave output that we're going to modulate. I'm going to take that and feed that directly into the input of our diff. Then I'm going to modulate this with a sawtooth wave from the Moog. So just go ahead and take this signal, which is currently the pulse, and I'm going to move it over to the sawtooth. I'm going to continue to run it through this attenuator so I can control how deep the modulation is. But then I'm going…
