- [Instructor] You have 3D printing options. There's more than one way to make a 3D print. You can invest in hardware and have a 3D printer to use at your home or business. Or you can choose to use a 3D printing service. If you're planning to purchase 3D printer hardware, you have choices. While the market is always changing, most 3D printers fit into three broad groups. The most inexpensive machines are called desktop 3D printers. These low-cost printers are designed for consumers, and can be do-it-yourself kits, or fully-assembled units. Costs range from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars. Then there's the mid-range. Other descriptors are pro-sumer, small business, or benchtop.
