- [Instructor] Sometimes, you need to keep information up to date in multiple places. Now, this is a challenge, because ideally, you only want one single source of truth. Storing the same data in multiple places could be a maintenance nightmare, unless you have automation to keep it all in sync, of course. Automation can update related issues, pass information between issues, or sync data with other tools and more. Here's an example of one of those ideas. This example looks for a Jira issue ID in a comment and automatically links that issue to the other issue. The rule runs when a new comment is added, then a smart values condition is used to look for an issue ID in the comment's copy. The regular expression looks for a project key followed by a dash, followed by any digit, then a link issues action sets the type of link. Another smart value is used to pass Jira the issue ID.
