- In addition to built-in capabilities, you can also add automation functionality through third-party apps in the Atlassian Marketplace. Apps allow all sorts of additional features through workflow behaviors, scheduled or event-based actions, triggered alerts and more. You can even use apps to automate Jira configuration changes and the testing process. Next, let's explore some automation capabilities provided by third-party apps. For the first example, we'll automatically sync some information at a specific step in a workflow. We'll trigger the automation using a transition post function. The default post functions for every transition are shown. Post functions are additional rules or actions that occur after a workflow transition. They only execute if the transition succeeds. For this example, I'll use one of my favorite Jira apps called Jira Miscellaneous Workflow Extensions or JMWE for short.
