- [Host] Let's take a look at the glyphs panel in InDesign and some of the less obvious things about the Glyphs panel. And also answer the question, what's the difference between a character and a glyph? A character is a linguistic unit and a glyph is an instance of that unit. I'm going to change my font here to Gallard Pro and here I have this capital A. Now if we look at its slot on the glyphs panel, we see there is a triangle bottom right? If I click and hold down on that, we see other instances of this A. So this A character is made up in this case of these three different glyphs. They all have the same unicode number, in this case 0041, but they're distinguished by their GID number. When working with the glyphs panel, it can often be like looking for a needle in a haystack, but there are certain things that we can do to make it slightly easier. You'll see up here on a top row you are recently used glyphs. You can save a glyphs set, which you can then view on the show menu. We'll…
