- As we've discussed, there are impactful changes you can make to reduce the pressure on your company's managers, but these will fall short if your organization's structure or the scope of your leader's responsibilities is misaligned. I'll give you three suggestions for how to test for that. First, take a closer look at the types of tasks your managers handle in a typical week. Are they focused on high-impact work, the kind of work that moves the business forward, or are they stretched too thin by tasks that could be streamlined or reassigned? For example, many managers spend an inordinate amount of time fielding routine employee questions about policies, benefits, payroll issues or IT troubleshooting. While managers should be accessible to their teams, acting as a go-between for administrative functions isn't the best use of their time.
