Malware overview
- Malware is short for malicious software. Hackers use malware to exploit known vulnerabilities in software, and they do it for fun, destruction, or profit. We're going to look at a few common examples of malware, worms, viruses, rootkits, and ransomware. In each of these, hackers can exploit software vulnerabilities that aren't properly addressed. There are many other kinds of malware, including keyloggers, adware, malvertising, Trojans, and spyware. These will continue to evolve as the software landscape changes. The three key takeaways that I want you to keep in mind in order to avoid malware are, number one, make sure your software is always up to date and the latest version has been installed.
