- [Instructor] The European Union has designated certain uses of artificial intelligence technology to be high risk with compliance obligations on developers, importers, distributors, and deployers of AI technology. The regulations cover any AI systems which have users in the EU, regardless of their source. Let's take a look at what constitutes a high risk system. The first category of high risk systems is biometrics, discovers identification and categorization, as well as recognition of emotions. The second category is where AI is used in the management and operation of critical infrastructure, including transportation, water, and power systems. The third category covers AI systems in education and focuses on two aspects. The first is the selection or assessment of students, and the second is monitoring of student behavior.
