Build a timeline from a project plan

- [Instructor] The Microsoft Project Plan on the screen represents the steps a pharmaceutical company might go through to introduce a new drug to the market. As you can see at the top of the screen, Microsoft Project can display milestones on a timeline. It's also true that Visio can build a timeline automatically by importing data from Microsoft Project. Knowing that both programs can display timelines, why would you choose to import project data into Visio? Let's take a look. On the new page, select either Categories or Templates, depending on your version of Visio. Let's scroll down to the Schedule category, where we find the Timeline template. On the Timeline tab is the button labeled Import Data, which launches the wizard that allows us to browse to and select a project plan, and we'll just click Next and accept the defaults for the rest of the wizard. In a matter of seconds, we have a timeline. We'll probably want to do some cleanup, dragging a few of these labels around. Let's…
