Create an ad set from your media plan

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

Media Planner is a tool in Campaign Manager that can help you determine your potential return on investment (ROI) on LinkedIn, so that you can optimize your audience and budgets before creating your ad sets.

Who can use this feature?

We’re gradually releasing Media Planner, and you might not have access to it at this time.

Prerequisites

Before you can create an ad set from your media plan, you’ll need to create and save a media plan. Please note, you can create a media plan for brand awareness, video views, and lead generation objectives, and CTV Ads.

After you’ve saved your media plan, you can create an ad set directly from your plan.

Create an ad set from your media plan

To create an ad set from your media plan:

  1. Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Plan on the left menu and select Media Planner.

  3. Find the media plan you’d like to use to create your ad set. You can search by plan name or ID, or you can filter by objective.

  4. In the Actions column, click the More icon and select Create ad set.

  5. From here, create and launch your ad set. Learn how to create a Classic ad set in Campaign Manager.

You can create as many ad sets as you need from your media plan.

Here's a tip

You can also create an ad set after you’ve selected your media plan in Media Planner. When you’re in your media plan, click the More menu in the upper-right corner and select Create ad set.

Review and manage associated ad sets

After you’ve created an ad set from your media plan, you can review all the ad sets associated with your plan and remove or add them as needed.

To manage your media plan’s associated ad sets:

  1.  Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Plan on the left menu and select Media Planner.

  3. Find the media plan you’d like to use to create your ad set. You can search by plan name or ID, or you can filter by objective.

  4. In the Actions column, click the More icon and select Manage associated ad sets.

  5. In the dialog, you can:

    • Remove an associated ad set - Click the  Remove icon next to the ad set to remove.
    • Add an ad set - Use the search box to find an existing ad set to associate with your plan. Select the ad set from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the Save button.

Here's a tip

If you’ve already associated an ad set with your media plan, you can also move your cursor over the number in the Campaign column, then select the Manage button to associate additional ad sets. Please note, you must have at least one ad set associated to access this feature from the Campaign column.
