About us
Vanderweil is a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, sustainability, commissioning, and power engineering firm dedicated to providing customized and innovative engineering solutions through excellent client service. We have designed MEP/FP systems for buildings of all types and sizes, as well as cogeneration plants up to 50 MW, chilled water plants up to 100,000 tons, hundreds of miles of transmission lines up to 345 kV, and utility grade substations up to 1,000 MVA. We seek to create engineering designs that reflect and support our client’s project goals for program functionality, quality and maintenance, aesthetics, environmental impact, occupant comfort and health, space use, performance, and cost. We achieve this through close collaboration with our clients and fellow team members. Sustainability is a core value at Vanderweil. Our buildings incorporate sustainability provisions ranging from the pragmatic to the cutting edge. We are an active participant in the AIA 2030 commitment and a LEED Proven Provider, a USGBC designation recognizing firms with exceptional performance. We are an independently owned company that values its clients, its employees and the environment. #UsdanPetTips 🚗🐾 Holiday road trips ahead? Before you hit the highway, make sure your pet is ready for the ride. Use a secure carrier or harness and start with short practice trips to help them get used to the motion and sounds of the car. Keep the windows closed, and plan regular stops for water and bathroom breaks. Bring their food, bowls, medications, and comfort items — and pack a copy of their medical records. Plan ahead by identifying 24-hour animal hospitals along your route; you can find them through the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) at aaha.org.

Two weeks ago I had a wonderful trip to Chicago, where I accepted a Modernism in America Award from Docomomo US, for our work on Gund Hall for Harvard University Graduate School of Design. It was an honor to accept the award on behalf of the team and project. There were many inspiring projects which received awards, including Docomomo NE for Boston City Hall (Congrats to Gary Wolf, FAIA, David Fixler, Henry Moss, Mark Pasnik, and many others). Docomomo's programing also included an amazing tour of Modernist homes across Chicagoland (by Paul Schweikher, Mies, Bruce Goff, and FLW)--a great day out in the sun seeing some inspiring buildings.
