As we head into Thanksgiving week, I’ve been thinking about gratitude… and oddly enough, Charlie Brown helped me. Remember the Peanuts Thanksgiving Special? Charlie Brown tries to host a big holiday meal, and what does he serve? Toast, popcorn, and jelly beans. Not exactly a magazine cover Thanksgiving. And yet… the moment that always sticks with me is this: his friends show up anyway. They laugh, they sit together, and even when Peppermint Patty complains, everyone ends up grateful for the togetherness, not the perfection. There’s laughter, community, and eventually a kind of grace that settles over the table. Because gratitude isn’t rooted in perfection — it’s rooted in presence. Scripture says, “Give thanks in all circumstances.” Not for all circumstances… but in them. So even when life looks like toast and jelly beans — even when we’re tired, stretched, or unsure —we can still thank God for what’s real and right in front of us: *The very fact that we’re alive *Family *The People He’s placed around us, *The Provision we didn’t earn, *The Lessons we didn’t ask for but needed, particularly during the hard times. Let’s strive to cultivate an attitude of gratitude this Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving!
